About the Founder
My name is Shawn Beckett and I think that it is important that you understand who I am to make sure that we are the right fit for each other.
I grew up in the projects of Harlem, New York which is in Manhattan. For me life was pretty good. I thought we were rich. School was easy. I just had to learn how to be street wise. Encountering physical and verbal confrontation, scams and police stops, were well learned life lessons. It gave me a resilience and tenacity that I would not have obtained any other way.
I attended Swarthmore College, one of the top Liberal Art Colleges in the country. There I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a Concentration in Public Policy, as well a teacher certification to teach Social Studies in Secondary School (1997). I also attended the prestigious Columbia University Teachers College in New York City to study Politics and Education(1998). After teaching for about 6 years in various school, I then attended Temple University’s Beasley School of Law in the evening program, where I was awarded the Rubin Public Interest Law Honor Society Fellowship for consummate service to the community.
I was admitted to the bars of New Jersey and Pennsylvania in 2008 and 2007. Since then, I have practiced in many different areas of the law. I have made it my mission to recognize that clients are people and not just a case number.
I spent the majority of my career as a Public High School Teacher. Because of my teaching career and watching school districts under serve children and parents not being informed of their rights, I knew thhat my career path would lead to assisting those families with getting support for their child's education.
However, the majority of my legal career has been spent assisting people in their claims for Social Security Disability Insurance. I have worked for the largest Disability attorney in the nation. I have taken the knowledge from performing hundreds of disability hearings and handling thousands of cases to provide a more personal attorney-client relationship.
