Criminal Defense

First, if you are under suspicion, have been arrested, or have been charged with a crime, it is extremely important that you exercise your right to remain silent until you have a lawyer present. Be polite, but be firm—DO NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS OR PROSECUTORS UNTIL YOU HAVE SPOKEN TO AN ATTORNEY. This is especially true for those with immigration issues.  Not all criminal and traffic defense attorneys are aware of the immigration ramifications of convictions. “A new Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) report out Tuesday found that since 2008, the most serious criminal charge for half of those deported was for an immigration or traffic violation.” Make sure you speak to US before any discussion with law enforcement or the prosecution

Beckett Law Group handles Criminal and Municipal cases because we understand the severity of the charges and the ramifications that follow from a conviction. We have years of experience handling these types of cases. The Beckett Law Group will know you and your case prior to our day in court. The attorney handling your case personally will discuss your case with you. The attorney wants to be aware of all of the facets that make your case unique. The Firm will work tirelessly to ensure that you receive the best representation and the best outcome.

Common Traffic Offenses

• Drunk Driving
• Refusal to Take Breath Test
• Driving While Suspended/Revoked

• Driving without Insurance
• Careless Driving

• Reckless Driving
• Speeding

The majority of moving violations carry points as a penalty for the violation. Points can have far reaching effects beyond your day in court.   Insurance companies could raise your rates, drop your coverage, or deny you insurance because of points you have on your driving record.

A driver is entitled to receive 12 points on his or her driving record. Once a driver receives 12 or more points on his driving record, then the Motor Vehicle Commission will issue a notice of scheduled suspension to the driver. This notice will advise the driver that his license will be suspended because he has accumulated 12 or more points on their license.

You need a lawyer that will work to eliminate or reduce the points that you receive for a violation so that after your day I court, you do not have the long lasting effects of the violation.
